A day at school and chillin at the Binz

Angelo is here twice as long as the rest of the team, and has been instrumental in alleviating the burden from the MDL staff and Bill and Susette. He has been accomplishing this by general care of the facilities: the orphanage, guest house, school, and by special projects and maintainance. He often keeps the rest of the team from being idle! Here he is creating shelving for the feeding program. Please pray for him in his vision to come alongside the Manasseros.

Day Two: in Bible
Class, Jesse Moline teaches more on applying context. In this picture, Willie is reading the Bible in his native tongue, Creole!

Please pray for attentiveness in the kids, and wisdom in us as we teach them how to rightly divide the word.

On Monday at the feeding program we put on a Bible presentation for the children. It started with Jen leading some worship, then Lazo doing a dramatic reenactment of the story when Zacheus meets Jesus.  The kids were very wild (restlessness, anger, sadness…) when they entered the “Bens” courtyard and had a trouble setting down but as soon as Lazo got up and began to teach he had all 100 of their attention. The presence of God was so tangible that a peace fell over many who were watching. Lazo taught about how he (as Zacheus) had sought for Jesus but could not find him in the crowd so he climbed a tree (at this point he mounted Danny who was the tree). However, all along Jesus was seeking out Zacheus and took notice of him. The skit was hillarious and effective and we would ask you continue to pray for us as we minister to children as a team. Pray for the children who attend the feeding program to become assured and grounded in who Jesus is. Today we have our second day at the feeding program and we are preparing the skit on Jonah and the whale. Please pray a special anointing over Lazo, Danny and Jesse who have been taking turns at teaching the Bible and Christ to the children at the MDL school and feeding program. Pray for the children’s hearts to be gripped by truth and hunger for God’s word.

This is our next-door neighbor…

This is our next-door neighbor…

Yesterday, we took part in the feeding program. Children gather in this compound and play games, worship, and hear the gospel. Then they are served warm food and clean water. The vision at Child Hope is to alleviate suffering and hunger, and yet not exist simply as a crutch. For that, the feeding program is every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Pray for resources for this wonderful ministry, as the most basic needs like water and food are scarce. Pray also that the gospel we teach would fall on softened children hearts, and that these acts of mercy would be directly connected to a God who loves them. Pray for the team to be refreshed as it can sometimes feel very hopeless for a short term team-member.

chrislazo:

The team got to go down the road to a ravine, where the poorest of the poor reside as refugees. In the middle of this “tent-city” was a small church that welcomed us in to worship with them. The man in the white shirt leading the praise is the pastor. He specifically requested that we would pray for the Lord to provide them with water.
